ALTAR BOYZ
The heavenly Off-Broadway smash hit musical is descending right onto Chanhassen’s Fireside Theatre stage! The ALTAR BOYZ are five small-town boys: Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham—trying to save the world one screaming fan at a time. This hilarious spoof about a Christian boy band (with one nice Jewish boy) is an evening of spectacular music, sinfully sensational dancing and uncontrollable laughs. This award winner will have the whole family guffawing and singing along!
Content Statement: While ALTAR BOYZ is clearly a musical parody/spoof and pokes fun at boy bands (like Backstreet Boys and Jonas Bros.) and religion, it won’tresult in protests from good-natured Christian audience members. It is irreverent comedy delivered innocently. Language: There is a line where they use theword “Ass” and it refers to a donkey, but it is used as a double entendre. There is a song lyric, “get the hell out,” in a song denouncing the devil. The music is highly amplified and is performed with a combination of dialogue and concert-style rock. Ultra-conservative Christians may be offended with the irreverent comedy. (song lyric: “Jesus called me on my cell phone, no roaming charges were incurred. He told me that I should go out in the world and spread his glorious word.” line: “Cruci-funk-shun is a disco account of our Savior’s death.” However this material is delivered innocently and contains many wonderful messages about God’s saving grace. See you there
